Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
