Hazlewood received clearance to link up with the Australian team for the initial Test against England following fitness concerns, although compatriot Abbott is unavailable

The two experienced hamstring injuries playing for NSW against Victoria in the Sheffield Shield recently

Scans showed the 34-year-old Hazlewood escaped a muscle strain. The uncapped Abbott, 33, has a moderate-level injury

Skipper Pat Cummins will miss the first Test, starting November 21, meaning the absence of a key pace option such as Hazlewood would have been a major blow

The bowler stood not expected to participate at the Perth match, with Hazlewood set to join fellow quicks Starc and Boland forming the fast bowling unit

Cummins, currently healing from back issues, appears to be likely to comeback for the Brisbane match in Brisbane starting on 4 December

Similar to most Aussie squad members, Hazlewood participated in ongoing fixtures of domestic cricket building up to the Ashes
